After Care

After care for normal cling film.

Remove dressing after 3-4 hours, Very gently wash your tattoo with warm water and mild soap, pat dry with kitchen towel (do not rub dry or buff). When completely dry apply a thin layer of either cocoa butter (available from most chemists), aveeno or Tattoo After Care cream available from the front of the shop. Follow this procedure 3 times a day for the first 3 days.

  • DO NOT recover after the 3 days but continue to wash 2-3 times and apply cream.

  • DO NOT rub or pick any scabs off your tattoo, this will affect healing and lead to patchiness and scarring.

  • DO NOT wear tight clothing or anything that rubs the tattoo. Avoid heavy exercise for the first couple of days to reduce the amount of friction from clothing and excess sweat.

AVOID for two weeks sunbathing, swimming, long baths, saunas, dirt, oil, grease, paint, industrial cleaners, raw meat, creams, or ointments other than recommended tattoo aftercare creams.

AVOID mixing any cement, as this can get into your tattoo and give it a bit of unwanted texture with a hint of permanence.

If you experience any redness or swelling which lasts longer than the first 3 days, give the studio a call. Some redness is normal for the healing process but if you are worried do email us.

A rash is likely to be a reaction to cream. Antihistamine is advisable in this instance take as directed. Let us know if you have a problem, we can offer advice and direct you further.

After care for second skin.

Remove second skin no later than 48hrs after application. If it has an excessively soupy appearance (blurry tattoo and fluid build up) it’s advisable to remove sooner, then follow the aftercare with cling film instead.

When removing do no waxing strip it off, slowly peel back and apply mild soap and water as you go, stretching the film can also help the adhesive let go. If it’s being really stubborn apply a little cream behind the film as you go.

One removed give it a good clean with soapy water. Pat it dry with kitchen towel or let it air dry.

Once removed clean and cream 2-3 times a day until healed.
